Knighton in Powys.
Knighton is a small town on the border of Shropshire and Wales. For anybody interested in walking along Offa's Dyke (which was built by King Offa to keep the English out of Wales), Knighton and the surrounding area is lovely place for you to stay.
Knighton itself has everything you need from a small town. There is a "Harry Tuffins" supermarket, a bakers, bank, takeaway and a restaurant. You'll also find a couple of traditional tea-shops to fortify yourself during your exploration of Offa's Dyke.
We stayed at
Black Hall Lodges, which is about 4 miles away from Knighton, and found this small town ideal to visit to top up on our provisions. Knighton also has signed cycle routes leading through the surrounding countryside - so if cycling is your thing - bring your bike! One word of warning though; it's very hilly around these parts, so bear that in mind when you're planning a holiday consisting of walking or cycling.
