Details of Blacksmiths Cottage
Blacksmiths Cottage in Washbourne sleeps 5 people. Blacksmiths Cottage is a truly charming, 200-year-old semi-detached stone cottage enjoying stunning countryside views to the rear and attached on one side to what used to be the old village Smithy. The pretty accommodation has been modernised throughout whilst retaining its character features with the help of a woodburning stove, whitewashed ceiling beams, and a lovely stable door in the kitchen from which to admire the views. There is a South-West facing country garden to the rear with a patio area and a lawn and the cottage afronts the country lane to the front.
The hamlet of Washbourne is formed around the small valley of the river Wash, a tributary of the River Dart, and is situated in an idyllic setting of unspoilt tree-lined banks, secret creeks and rolling countryside.
For those who can tear themselves away from this peaceful haven, the village of Harbertonford is just 1½ miles away with two handy village stores and a pub. The beautiful Creekside village of Tuckenhay is also just 1½ miles stroll away with two extremely popular pubs to sample.
Washbourne also lies equidistant between the bohemian town of
Totnes and the naval town of
Dartmouth. The eclectic market town of Totnes with its enticing narrow streets and renowned for its markets, art galleries, unusual independent shops, restaurants and cafes including organic and specialist food suppliers.
Dartmouth, in the other direction, is a hotspot for all sailing activities and renowned for its upmarket shops and restaurants. Alternatively, you could just lose yourself along one of the many stunning countryside and coastal walks available on the doorstep and after a day’s exploring, why not sip cocktails or dine alfresco in the delightful private garden. However you decide to spend your holiday; this lovely cottage won’t fail to delight!
Please note: Bedroom 3 is not suitable for children under the age of 6 due to there not being a stair gate or open window restrictors in place.
