West Vane in California Cross sleeps 5. The Colmer Estate is a unique collection of 20 holiday cottages, set in 28 acres of grounds, which vary from landscaped lawns and walled gardens to wild woodland and meadows. Located only 12 miles from
Salcombe and 13 miles from
Dartmouth, with its famous annual regatta, or a short drive to Bigbury on Sea where you discover rock pooling or cross the water by sea tractor to explore Burgh Island. Add to this a range of year-round indoor and outdoor facilities and you have the ingredients that create the perfect holiday.
The left wing of the original Georgian Manor House has been stylishly converted into West Vane. Inside you'll find lots of original period features, which have been nicely retained and offer glimpses into the splendour of the estate's affluent past. Outside, you have your own private corner garden overlooking the extensive gardens and grounds. On the ground floor, the comfortable lounge/diner has a double aspect, with large bay windows overlooking the gardens towards the lake. Upstairs there are 2 large bedrooms, the master double with king sized bed, and garden views, and a bright and cheery family room. High ceilings and light, airy rooms throughout all add to the overall feeling of space and tranquillity.
Indoor Facilities: On the first floor of the INDOOR POOL complex is a FITNESS ROOM with a range of cardio-vascular exercise equipment. The small GAMES ROOM with table top football and play activities for younger children.
Outdoor Facilities: An OUTDOOR HEATED SWIMMING POOL (available mid May - mid September). Within the walled gardens, for younger children, there are swings and a climbing frame with slide. Table Tennis. A hard TENNIS COURT (bring your own racquets and balls). A boardwalk leads through the water garden to the lake, which is stocked for COARSE FISHING with large carp and golden rudd. You will need to bring your own fishing tackle and have an appropriate licence.
Accommodation: Ground Floor: Lounge/Diner. Kitchen. First Floor: Bedroom 1 with king-sized bed. Bedroom 2 with bunk beds and a single bed. Bathroom with bath, shower cubicle, WC and washbasin.
