Stable Boy's Cottage near Kirkby Lonsdale is a detached stone cottage which is a former stable block on a small family estate, close to the pretty village of Burton-in-Kendal in the South Lakes.
This delightful romantic cottage is in a perfect location to explore this beautiful part of the country.
Sweeping through the electric gate, up the drive through the private parkland, sets the scene for this special cottage.
Park in the courtyard and enter this cosy cottage through the stable door where on the ground floor there is a cottage-style kitchen with dining area.
The bedroom on the ground floor has beautiful beams and looks out onto pretty woodland, giving a real sense of away from it all in your own snug retreat.
There are beautiful carved wooden headboards, and as you gaze up you will see beams and the mezzanine level of the lounge upstairs.
The comfortable sitting room has an exposed stone wall, beams and a French door leading to the raised terrace overlooking the cobbled courtyard and woodland, where you can sit with a morning coffee or your favourite evening drink.
Burton-in-Kendal is an elegant village with a shop and pub, and this attractive cottage is ideally placed for walking, as it is located beneath Farleton Knott, which has extensive limestone pavements.
From here, you can see extensive views of the stunning area to the estuary coast, including Warton Cragg, Arnside Knott and Lakeland Fells.
Also, locally is Leighton Moss RSPB, next to Silverdale and Arnside coastal villages, both well worth visiting, with many glorious walks and cycling routes.
You will even be able to watch birds closer to home, with the resident peacocks, cockerels and geese freely roaming through the grounds, taking a stroll beneath the balcony, or getting ready to settle in the large ewe tree across the courtyard.
