Red Deer Lodge near Coniston sleeps 8 people. The peaceful village of Finsthwaite nestles amongst large ares of woodland one mile from Lakeside at the southern end of the Lake Windermere and close to Hawkshead and Grizedale Forest. The area offers some excellent walking opportunities, much favoured by Wainwright, including the circular 5 mile walk to High and Low Dam, from where the waters drove the nearby Stott Park Bobbin Mill. High Dam Tarn is a well known beauty spot and where stands Finsthwaite Tower, built to commemorate those servicemen who defeated the French in the 18th century. St Peter's Church is well worth a visit, the churchyard home to the grave of the Finsthwaite Princess, believed to be the daughter of Prince Charles Edward, the Young Pretender.
Red Deer Lodge is very aptly named, looking out across St Peter's Church towards acres of dense, mature woodland, perfectly placed for spotting a glimpse of these most beautiful of creatures. Having undergone a major transformation in readiness for holiday letting. Red Deer Lodge now offers excellent, quality accommodation for either two families or a larger gathering of friends who wish to enjoy a quieter, more rural location but within easy reach of the more popular resorts when required.
