Details of Meadowcroft No 4
Meadowcroft No 4 in Bowness on
Windermere sleeps 6 people in 3 bedrooms. Meadowcroft House is a former gentleman's residence built in 1908. Over the last century it has been used as a school and hotel before being converted into a stunning complex of apartments. Meadowcroft No 4 is a first floor apartment with three bedrooms, each with their own en-suite. The lounge and the dining room enjoy winter views of the lake and a short walk brings you to its shores where you can watch the boats sailing by. There are two acres of grounds including mature trees, manicured lawns, shrubberies and more natural areas to enjoy and an all-weather tennis court is available for guests use. For the less energetic, the gardens are large enough for a leisurely stroll and are full of birds, rabbits and the occasional deer. Meadowcroft is a five minute short drive to Bowness with its shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants, a local supermarket, and the Beatrix Potter Centre. Bowness-on-Windermere is one of the most popular locations in the Lake District. Situated midway down Lake
Windermere, a long promenade skirts the lake with views over a busy harbour where pleasure cruisers arrive and depart taking visitors up and down the lake. The town has a vibrant, bustling atmosphere, especially in the summer months and a superb lakeside setting with lovely views across and down the lake. A car ferry runs to the far side of the lake taking visitors to Sawrey and Hawkshead, or you can take a trip on one of the steamers north to
Ambleside or south to Lakeside. There is plenty to see and do including the Beatrix Potter Exhibition and Steamboat Museum, as well as an 18 hole ‘pitch and putt' and sailing marinas. Bowness provides a good selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants as well as a wide range of shops, all within easy reach. The pub and restaurant are ½ mile, and the shop is 1½ miles from Meadowcroft No 4.
