Details of Winnow Cottage
Winnow Cottage in Commondale, near Guisborough sleeps 4 people in 2 bedrooms. Winnow Cottage near Guisborough; if peace and tranquillity is what you’re looking for then look no further than Winnow Cottage. The property is accessed by a ¼ mile rough, single bridle track, which can be difficult to access during winter months. The building dates back to the 1800s but has been refurbished in 2018 to a high standard. The open plan living and modern kitchen areas offer plenty of space and benefit from a lovely muti-fuel burner, perfect for snuggling up after a winter walk. The sun room opens on to an amazing decked area that looks out to natural beauty of the North
York Moors National Park. Both of the bedrooms offer Freeview TVs, USB sockets and have en-suite shower rooms. The owner is a big dog lover and has retired from working as a puppy training supervisor with assistance dogs, so has thought of everything for your furry friends including an outdoor doggy shower, perfect for giving the dogs a wash after a walk out in the beautiful countryside that surrounds this semi-detached cottage.
Although there is a feel of being in the middle of nowhere, the village of Castleton is less than a mile away with a number of traditional, dog friendly pubs serving home cooked food, a tea room and a train station. You can even catch a train to Whitby and back if you want to leave the car behind for the day, and it is an ideal way to link up with the North Yorkshire Steam Railway for a journey into the heart of the National Park. There are many walking and cycling routes literally from the doorstep, including across to Danby Castle. Danby also has a visitors centre which is great for finding out more about what the area has to offer and about the nature that surrounds you. There is also a nearby bike hub that offers assistance with routes, rental and workshop facilities.
Head towards the coast and enjoy some of the spectacular coastline with a visit to one of many hidden gems such as Staithes, with its links to Captain Cook, Runswick Bay and
Robin Hoods Bay. You can also enjoy a stroll along the famous Cleveland Way along cliff tops and down into the coves and bays once frequented by pirates and smugglers. The popular fishing town of Whitby is a wonderful place to explore, whether it’s the cobbled back streets with its shops and tea rooms, or the foodie scene with everything from award winning fish and chips to bistros and coffee shops, there really is something for everyone. A trek up the 199 steps to get close to Whitby Abbey is worth the effort for the views out to sea and of the town alone. Whitby has many events and festivals all year round so keep an eye on the calendar for whats on when you visit and there are boat trips out to sea all year round (weather permitting) including trips in search of whales.
There are many wonderful towns and villages dotted throughout the National Park and beyond including Pickering,
