The Old Orchard in Wick sleeps 2 people in 1 bedroom. The Old Orchard in Wick; as you enter The Old Orchard you are greeted by a small hall which leads to the open plan living, dining, bedroom, and kitchen area. The bedroom area has a double bed, while the living area has two comfy armchairs to relax in after a day out. The kitchen is equipped with all you will need to create a light meal. There is also a separate shower room with an electric shower. Outside, you have a seating area with table and chairs that overlook the owners’ free range chickens.
The Old Orchard is situated just 1 mile from the lively, small market town of Langport in the Heart of the Somerset Levels, with independent shops including a bakery, craft and coffee shops, eateries, pubs, pharmacy and a supermarket. Langport is reported to be the smallest town in England.
National Cycle Route 339 passes through the hamlet of Wick and the local area is a popular centre for walking, with extended walks such as the Parrett Trail. It would not be unusual to spot a variety of local wildlife, including owls, woodpeckers, cranes, herons, swans, buzzards, numerous garden birds, deer, foxes, and badger. Activities on the River Parrett include fishing, paddle boarding, canoeing and boat trips. You can visit the RSPB Heronry Hide and Willow and Wetlands Centre, or sample local produce at the local winery and cider makers. There are many events on throughout the year including: Somerset Arts Week, Steam Rallying and Wassailing.
The Old Orchard has easy access to
Taunton, Bridgwater, and Yeovil, all approximately 14 miles away and offering swimming pools, a cinema, theatre, bowling, and a museum. Other places of interest include Wells Cathedral,
Glastonbury Tor and Abbey,
Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, National Trust properties such as
Barrington Court and Muchelney Abbey, historic churches, Burrow Mump, West Somerset Steam Railway and Somerset County Cricket ground. Further out are Lyme Regis and the south coast, or Burnham on Sea and Weston Super Mare on the north coast. The Quantocks, Mendips and Ham Hill are also within easy access, or visit Glastonbury, famous for its myth, mystery and festival.
