Set just 2 miles from the vibrant seaside town of
Bude, this area is well loved by tourists, with its fantastic beaches and picturesque stretches of coastline. Spend the day exploring the sandy beaches of Crooklets and Summerleaze, or the hidden coves in Duckpool. There are amazing coastal walks to be had along the South West Coastal Path, which runs along the entire coastline of Cornwall.
Swimming Pools
The indoor pool is a perfect place to relax and is heated to 30 degrees. At one end of the pool is a children’s area, perfect for little ones and babies getting their first taste of water. At the other end is a swim-in spa which when turned on delivers a number of volcanoes and jets that gently massage your back and feet. The pool hall also features a fantastic lighting system that displays the seven colours of the rainbow, along with a music system, creating a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. The outdoor pool is heated to 26 degrees and its southerly aspect makes it a real sun trap in which to swim or sunbathe. A changing room, shower and toilet are available, along with a six seater
hot tub situated in one corner.
Activities
As well as the fantastic swimming pool there are a host of other leisure facilities on site which are included in the cost of your holiday, including a gym, steam room, sauna, outdoor tennis court, outdoor sun loungers and a games room with pool tables and air hockey. For the little ones, there is an indoor soft play area and a pet’s corner, where they can meet and feed chickens, ducks, pygmy goats and pigs. Help collect the eggs and feed the animals 2-3 times a week (depending on the time of year) at 9.30am each morning. For the more energetic, you can spend time on the badminton, basketball and full-sized tennis courts, as well as the astro turf football pitch. Try your hand at coarse fishing down at the lake for a relaxing past-time.
Facilities
Pop down to the Weir café bistro, just 500 yards along the driveway from the cottages, and enjoy a bite to eat while the kids explore the adventure playground, based on a wildlife theme, just by the fishing lake. Play and climb on the bird hide lookout, use the tunnels of the badger set to hide, or swing on the herons nest swing. There is also a rocking frog and otter all within viewing range of the picnic tables, so parents can keep an eye on the little ones while enjoying a coffee, cream tea or meal. There is also an interactive wildlife centre inside the Weir, with lots of fun games for children to play on. During the summer holidays a tractor ride operates twice a day from Whalesborough, across the fields and along tracks to Widemouth beach.
Spa
Spa treatments are available inside the leisure complex (at cost, please book on-site). Treat yourself to a massage, facial, manicure and truly relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings. You will find the nearest shop 2 miles, the pub is ½ mile from Whalesborough Holiday Cottages and Spa near Bude, with the restaurant on-site from Whalesborough Holiday Cottages and Spa. A beach can be found 2 miles.
