Westbrook House near Leyburn is a stunning, double fronted stone cottage located in the beautiful hamlet of Newbiggin-in-Bishopdale. Dating back to 1742, the cottage has retained many of its traditional features including original beams. It sits in a beautiful spot with a large gravelled patio garden to the front. It also gets a lot of sun in the morning and early afternoon so it’s a nice area to sit out and have a morning coffee and even chat with passersby. There is private off-road parking within a gravelled courtyard at the front of the adjoining property. Downstairs the cosy bedroom enjoys lovely views of the garden and a pear tree. The main living room has comfortable sofas, a cosy multi-fuel stove and lovely views to the valley beyond. The galley-style kitchen with dining area is superbly equipped with modern appliances. The garden is a beautiful space to stroll around and a lawn slopes down to a field with stunning view across the Dales. A perfect spot to sit, unwind and relax. Upstairs are two further bedrooms with features including a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams, and both enjoy lovely views.
Newbiggin-in-Bishopdale is centrally located for lots of attractions and provides an excellent opportunity for exploring. Nearby Aysgarth Falls and Middleham Castle, and the busier market towns of
Hawes and Leyburn, are just a short drive away with an interesting array of shops, restaurants and tea rooms. For the outdoor enthusiast there are numerous walks right from the doorstep. For an alternative family day out, visit the Forbidden Corner, a mysterious garden with surprises at every turn. Within the area there are lots of opportunities for eating out. A short stroll back to the main road is the local inn, a former 17th-century coach house which serves food. The villages of West Burton and Thoralby are a short drive away and both have a village pub. The pub & restaurant is 1 mile from Westbrook House near Leyburn, with a shop being 2 miles from Westbrook House.
