Cross one of the bridges into the centre of town or wander along the banks of the river into the Dock Park or the stunning Castledykes Park. Welldale Park is ideal for a family or group of friends to meet up. Recently renovated in 2022 and attractively decorated Welldale Park as well as a lovely living room has a spacious conservatory overlooking the garden. When the weather is fine fling open the doors and enjoy the delights of the garden.
From Welldale Park you can enjoy all the attractions of this lovely town without moving your car. For the younger members of the family Dock Park is open all year round and has a large, enclosed play park as well as mini golf, trampolines, a seasonal café and beautiful walks along the side of the river. Only a short walk into the centre of the town of
Dumfries, you will find many high street stores as well as museums, arts centres and Robert Burns House, where the famous Scottish poet, Rabbie Burns, spent the last few years of his life. Further afield in this beautiful corner of Dumfries and Galloway, there are attractions in abundance from beautiful sandy beaches to dramatic cliff top walks along the majestic Solway Coast. A visit to Caerlaverock Wetland Centre, a spectacular 1400-acre wild reserve is a must. With sailing, swimming, horse riding, fishing, golf, boat trips and water sports close by, there is something for everyone. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, there are many beautiful gardens to visit including Threave Gardens (National Trust). Close to the Galloway Forest Park, home to the first Dark Sky Park in Europe, and central to five of the 7Stanes at Mabie and
Dalbeattie forests, it is a popular location for cyclists and mountain bikers.
