Morpeth sleeps 4 people. The Cottage near Morpeth is a Grade II listed, terraced cottage set in the centre of the small village of Longhirst only a few miles from the historic market town of
Morpeth. Very charming, it has a beamed kitchen and welcoming woodburner for cosy nights in, and has easy access to an abundance of visitor attractions around the county. To the front is a small cottage garden (decorative only) and a small detached patio area (for use Apr-Oct); at the rear there is even a warm shower for washing your four-legged friend! It lies just a few miles from the A1 and the start of the Heritage coastline, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty peppered with castles, golden beaches and friendly villages. Visit nearby Morpeth which has a bagpipe museum and chantry, as well as an excellent selection of pubs, eateries, cafés and some independent shops with river boats available during the summer months. Woodhorn Museum, with many free visitor attractions, is also nearby, where you can also look up your family tree.
Alnwick, with its majestic castle occupied by the Duke of Northumberland, and used in the ‘Downton Abbey’ and ‘Harry Potter’, is only 30 minutes’ drive and makes a wonderful day out with something for all the family. Nearby Newbiggin-by-the-Sea has the only east coast off-shore sculpture and a maritime museum open all year round. Travelling inland, it is just as easy to explore the Northumberland National Park - or head west for the day to explore Hadrian’s Wall and the pretty village of
Corbridge. Northumberland is reputedly the friendliest county, where a warm and friendly welcome awaits all age groups. The shop is 1 mile, with a pub and restaurant 3 miles from The Cottage near Morpeth.
