Lower Barn Farm near Battle; surrounded by fields and farmland once owned by the Guinness family, these two wonderful properties are located close to the village of Bodiam. Situated next door to the owner, these detached former farm buildings provide a comfortable and welcoming base for a wonderful holiday in Sussex.

The Farmhouse at Lower Barn Farm (ref UKC3753 [The Farmhouse at Lower Barn Farm]) is an attractive converted farmhouse and provides excellent accommodation for a family or group of friends. A house for all seasons, the garden and barbecue can be enjoyed on those long summer balmy evenings, and in the winter after a brisk walk guests can watch a film, have a game of pool or curl up in front of the roaring double sided wood burner. The Stable at Lower Barn Farm (ref UKC3754) is a well thought out, stylishly converted, detached stable which makes for an ideal rural getaway. 65 acres of wooded grounds on the Kent and Sussex borders, complete with an idyllic fishing lake (rods available on request), are just waiting to be explored. There are woodland walks, hiking trails and an abundance of wildlife to be discovered, if you’re lucky you might even spot a kingfisher.

Should you decide to venture out, visit the neighbouring Hawkhurst for a spot of breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. Cruise on one of the finest rural rivers in England, the River Rother, which has been navigated for hundreds of years, or you can hire canoes, kayaks, or rowing boats if you’d prefer. Flowing through the High Weald, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it leads to the magnificent, moated, medieval castle at Bodiam. The Kent and East Sussex vintage steam railway chugs through the glorious Rother Valley and also visits Bodiam, having set off from the ‘Jewel in the Weald’, Tenterden. For interesting days out, why not visit Battle Abbey, Bedgebury Pinetum, or Bewl Water? Guests can enjoy wine tasting at local vineyards including Chapel Down and Carr Taylor at Sedlescombe, and Scotney Castle and the magnificent Sissinghurst Castle Garden are an easy drive away. The medieval Cinque Ports town of Rye, with its cobbled streets, is worth a visit along with Royal Tunbridge Wells, located in the other direction. There is a shop 3 miles, pub 2¼ miles from Lower Barn Farm near Battle, and a restaurant is 2¾ miles from Lower Barn Farm. There is a beach 13 miles from Lower Barn Farm.
