Hope Cottage near Dover was built in the 1700s; Hope Cottage became a pub and has now been thoughtfully converted with a beautiful bathroom, well-equipped kitchen and delightful living area to rest and relax in. There is an attractive enclosed outdoor space to enjoy a morning coffee or nightcap. Situated in the heart of the village of St Margaret’s the village shop, pub and restaurants are all just a stroll away. The magnificent White Cliffs are one of the United Kingdom’s most spectacular natural features. The walks and trails at the top of the cliffs are breathtaking with stunning views across the English Channel to France. Alternatively try a sea safari from Dover port in a rib, see the cliffs from a different perspective and land on The Goodwin Sands where many a ship was lured by smugglers. St Margaret’s Bay at the foot of the cliffs is ideal for rock-pooling, a spot of surfing or bring your paddleboard or kayak. Ian Flemming the creator of James Bond who had a holiday home here set much of ’Moonraker’ and ’Goldfinger’ in and around this part of Kent. Don’t leave the area before you visit the stunning Dover Castle and secret wartime tunnels, Deal and Walmer Castle and wander through the streets of Sandwich said to be one of the most well preserved medieval towns in Britain. The beach is ½ mile from Hope Cottage near Dover. With the shop 75 yards, and the pub & restaurant are 25 yards from Hope Cottage.
