Along the harbour are two very good fish and chip shops as well as a fish restaurant and a fabulous ice cream parlour. Boat trips to Coquet Island can be taken from here. Views towards Warkworth Castle are lovely on a clear day and you can walk to Warkworth from Amble along the river.
Nearby Warkworth is a pretty, picture postcard village dominated by its castle which sits at the top of the village. The local pubs and cafés are all well worth a visit too. Amble is close to the start of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty stretching along the beautiful coastline to Berwick-upon-Tweed, with miles of golden beaches and castles. Be sure to visit Holy Island during your stay. Alnwick Castle is just a few minutes’ drive away where you can explore this historical building, famed for its use in some ‘Harry Potter’ scenes.
Travelling inland is straightforward from Amble and you can have a great day out in the Northumberland National Park, visiting Kielder Forest Park with its huge forest and reservoir.
