Details of Fore Street
Fore Street in
Johnshaven, Aberdeenshire sleeps 5 people in 2 bedrooms. Fore Street in Johnshaven has fabulous sea views; this charming cottage is a great choice for watching the waves and relaxing all year round.
The whitewashed exterior faces onto the seafront while at the rear, a sheltered decking area offers privacy for al fresco meals or enjoying a drink. Inside, the decor is calm and uncluttered with beamed ceilings and original wooden supports in the living room and kitchen blending the contemporary decor with a cosy traditional feel. You will enjoy curling up on the sofa in the lounge in front of the roaring wood burner in cooler months.
Within a short walk is the local well stocked shop and village pub, well known for its food and drink and there is a local craft shop selling lovely little gifts.
Johnshaven has retained its fishing heritage and is still a busy landing area for shellfish. You will often see lobster pots stacked up round the harbour as you take a morning stroll along the seafront.
In August, the village hosts the very popular Fish Festival, attracting thousands of visitors from far and wide with lots of little stalls selling fresh produce, jewellery and crafts as well as music and dancing.
The local coastline boasts some lovely beaches at St Cyrus,
Montrose and Lunan Bay, with acres of pale clean sand backed by dunes. Wildlife abounds, from a large variety of bird life including waders, gulls and even peregrine falcons on the cliffs, to porpoises and dolphins which are often spotted offshore.
Further inland the scenery changes and the Angus Glens can be explored very easily. For culture lovers,
Aberdeen and
Dundee are only a 40-minute drive, with the Victoria & Albert museum and the RRS Discovery in Dundee as popular options for days out, as well as plenty of shops, dining experiences and theatre and cinema available in both cities.
