KAAD [Vine]) having been lovingly converted and sit around a pretty courtyard beside the owners’ home, Downe House, a listed farmhouse dating back to the 15th century in the midst of rolling farmland that slopes gently to the coast. All the properties are spacious, have en-suite bathrooms and many have sea views north to
Lundy Island and west over the Atlantic. Guests are free to use the 7 acres of land, including a 2-acre meadow and play area which is ideal for children to let off steam.
The perfect setting for walking holidays, cycling holidays, romantic or family breaks, this relaxing holiday retreat is just 1 mile from the South West Coastal Path, as well as many sandy beaches and hidden coves. To the south west lies Hartland Abbey and to the north west lies Blegberry, a fortified farm dating from the 1600s. In the distance, the stone tower of St Nectan’s Church rises above the picturesque village of Stoke.
The sea, Berry Cove and the South West Coastal Path are a mile’s walk away along a quiet, single-track road and a small footpath. The unspoilt village of Hartland is a mile away, either by road or by footpaths that take you along the side of a small river through the picturesque vale. The historic village of Clovelly is six miles away.
This is a perfect spot at any time of year, with fishing, golf, horse riding, surfing, sailing and walking all available in this stunning area. RHS Rosemoor Gardens, Docton Mill and Hartland Quay are well worth a visit, along with many pretty fishing villages to explore, including nearby Instow and Appledore. For family fun, the Big Sheep and Milk Way adventure parks are a must. Beach 1½ miles. Shop and pub 1 mile.
Ivy Cottage is a two-storey, semi-detached barn conversion. Double bedroom with 5ft bed, slate floor and en-suite shower room with toilet. Twin bedroom with slate floor and en-suite shower room with toilet. Additional folding bed (for +1 child) by arr. First floor: Beamed, open-plan living/dining room with wood-burning stove, well-equipped kitchen area, French windows and views of the sea and Lundy Island.
