Sarah’s Cottage, Chloe’s Country Cottages in Poulmaloe, near Whitechurch, Co Wexford sleeps 2 people. On the outskirts of Whitechurch village and a 600-yard stroll from the river Barrow, these beautifully converted former barns enjoy a peaceful, rural setting, yet they are only a few minutes’ drive from the quayside town of New Ross (7 miles), with plenty of interest including the Dunbrody Famine Ship, Ros Tapestry and a galley cruising restaurant! The owners are on site where they run an arable farm and have managed to retain the holiday cottages’ period charm with beamed ceilings throughout, original stone walls and cosy wood or electric burning stoves. Each has its own private patio garden as well as a large lawned area for guest use, as well as one being wheelchair friendly (Mill Cottage, ref W32056 [Mill Cottage]). Just 2 miles down the road is the Kennedy Homestead and Aboretum (over 4500 plant varieties) which are well worth a visit. There are plenty of quaint fishing villages and coves to explore, including the vast sandy beach at seaside Duncannon (9 miles) and numerous activities, including coarse fishing at Oaklands Lake, 3-par golf course, horse riding and sailing, all within a 10-mile radius.
