HMMH [Swallows Nest]) are part of a barn conversion set on a working farm within the Exmoor National Park. Set amongst some of the most glorious scenery to be found in Devon, plenty of footpaths and coastal walks can be taken from the apartments, leading to both the South West Coast Path and on to Exmoor National Park. Here you will find walking to suit all abilities and there are plenty of opportunities to spot red deer, Exmoor ponies and buzzards.
The properties are well located for exploring the area. Make sure you visit the Victorian cliff railway at Lynton. To the west are some of the country’s finest beaches at
Woolacombe and Putsborough. In
Ilfracombe you will find the harbour area, Damian Hirst’s ’Verity’ guarding the harbour entrance. There is also the Landmark Theatre and a good range of shops and amenities. A visit to the Combe Martin Wildlife Park and Watermouth Castle all make for an enjoyable day out. Travelling east, take a trip into medieval Dunster, 10 miles, with its historic yarn market, deer park and imposing castle (National Trust). Minehead is 18 miles away, with its super promenade to sit and enjoy an ice cream. Minehead is also home to the West Somerset Steam Railway. Take in some of the small villages close by on your travels, such as Blue Anchor, Porlock, Bossington and Withypool. There are National Trust properties at Arlington and
Knightshayes. Cycling, horse riding, golf and fishing are all available locally. There is now an artist in residence offering ’Crafty Tuesdays’, where visitors can drop in and make something in the studio with a multimedia artist. The studio is also available for use by visitors, subject to bookings, for their own artwork. Spinning and weaving, as well as feltmaking are also on offer regularly. A pub is 500 yards from Bats Roost in Lynton. The nearest shop is 1 mile from Bats Roost.
