Details of Apse Wood Cottage
Apsewood Cottage in Shanklin sleeps 9 people. Apse Wood Cottage is a beautifully appointed and elegant house forming part of what was known as Apse Manor, a Grade II listed building dating from the late 16th or early 17th century, and appeared on the Newchurch Tithe map of c1840. Apse Wood Cottage is located in a beautiful hamlet in a semi-rural location, and retains its historical relevance appropriate to its setting. Guests can enjoy a large garden which offers a stunning combination of rolling lawns, tended mature flower beds and planting, as well as beautiful natural planting and woodland surrounding it. There is open access to a small stream, with footbridge, at the bottom of the garden. The holiday property offers a perfect base for walkers and cyclists who want to explore the coastal paths, National Trust land and the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Nearby Shanklin, known for its sandy beach and clear waters, has a pretty Old Village with thatched cottages, tea rooms and restaurants. The Needles, with its chair lift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay, is worthy of a visit. Carisbrooke Castle and
Osborne House and Gardens are a short drive away. Blackgang Chine and island attractions such as
Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Isle of Wight Pearl, Dinosaur Isle and a donkey sanctuary are all easily accessible. Beach 2½ miles. Shop and pub 1½ miles.
