Details of The Lambing Shed
The Lambing Shed in Altarnun, North Cornwall sleeps 4 people. Quiet, leafy, rural lanes will lead you to the bliss and tranquillity of The Lambing Shed, a two-bedroom granite stone cottage nestled in a small hamlet and surrounded by open fields and pastures. Outside you have your private patio and lawn that looks across the extensive grounds of West Carne Farm and its far-reaching views of Dartmoor in one direction and of
Bodmin Moor in the other.
The Lambing Shed is situated in a highly convenient location southwest of Launceston and 45 minutes from the M5 at Exeter. It is very easily reached by car in 10 minutes from the A30. Within less than 30 minutes, you can be in Boscastle, Lostwithiel, Port Isaac or Wadebridge, and in approximately 45 minutes, you can be in Padstow, Newquay and Fowey.
The Lambing Shed has been lovingly restored by the owners, who take great pride in ensuring you have the most comfortable stays. The interior is luxurious, creative and perfect in every way. There is an open plan living area with a stylish kitchen complete, with artfully painted cupboards and wooden styled work surfaces. The glow from the electric effect wood-burning stove in the living room warms the comfortable seating where you can relax after a day exploring this stunning county. The bedrooms are also impeccably presented, where the finest linens adorn superbly comfortable beds and are complemented by beautiful cushions and throws.
There are stunning, golden beaches with miles of soft sand just a short drive away on the north coast, such as Trebarwith Strand, Rock, Polzeath, Crackington Haven, Fistral beach,
Newquay, Watergate Bay and Widemouth Bay (many great for surfing and stand up paddleboarding). As are the picturesque fishing villages of Port Isaac, Boscastle, Padstow and
Fowey many of which have a wealth of fine dining restaurants from celebrity chefs such as Emily Scott, Rick Stein, Nathan Outlaw and Paul Ainsworth (be sure to book in advance); there are some fabulous Cornish pubs and stunning little shops and galleries to visit too!
If you like fly fishing, then The Lambing Shed is an idle spot with Rose Park Trout fishery just a short drive away in Tresibbet.
A trip to the south coast is recommended, and The Roseland Peninsula, Polperro and Mevagissey to name but a few, are truly beautiful. The world-famous
Eden Project is an experience. They regularly have seasonal events throughout the year, including outdoor evening concerts by world-famous musicians (check out the Eden Sessions), Halloween over the October half term, Augmented Reality artwork displays or ice skating over the Christmas period. Take a cycle or a run along the Camel Trail at Wadebridge or wander around the town and enjoy some of the small independent shops and when hungry, stop for a delicious Cornish pasty.
Straight from the cottage door, you can walk over Bodmin Moor, where you can experience the views from the highest parts of Cornwall, Rough Tor and Brown Willy, trek around Dozmary Pool where King Arthur received Excalibur from the Lady of the Lake, allegedly. The Lambing Shed is a superb spot to engage with the nature and tranquillity of a breathtaking landscape.
