Taunton, in the south west of England, is positioned between the Quantock Hills
and the Blackdown hills. There is lots of interesting architecture in this town.
One such example of this is the Tudor House, which was built in 1550, and is
gabled and half-timbered. You'll also find plenty of Georgian architecture
around the town.
For those of you interested in the history of Taunton, you can take the Taunton
Heritage Trail, which gives you a good understanding of the history. Or maybe
you're more of a sports fan? If this is the case, you can visit Somerset
Cricket Ground, which is close to the town centre.
If you want to stop off for a picnic, have a rest at Vivery Park in the
town centre. This park is an ideal place to rest you weary legs, and is
also the setting for various outdoor events - including music, fireworks,
and the annual flower show.
Of course, Taunton also has a good range of shops, and a farmer's market which
is held once a week. You'll also find an antiques fair is held on a weekly basis
too. You can find more information on the markets in Taunton, and any other information at
the
Taunton Tourist Information Centre.
There's so much to see in this part of the country, you're bound to have a great cottage holiday here.
