Details of Ashmorton House
Ashmorton House in Henlow
, Bedfordshire sleeps 10 people. Ashmorton House is a stunning, spacious Victorian country house set within 7 acres of grounds. Situated on the North Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire borders, it is easily accessible from London by rail or car. Less than a mile from Champneys Health Spa which is set within its own 150 acres of beautiful parkland and built around an opulant Gerogian Manor, the finest traditions of health, fitness and wellbeing are at your disposal.
This handsome house has been lovingly restored to an immaculate standard; creating a comfortable, warm and welcoming home. Decorated in a timeless country house style and furnished with antiques, oil paintings and luxurious designer fabrics. Set in lawned grounds, approached by a long tree-lined driveway, with lovely bedrooms and reception rooms, including an original billiard room and full size tennis court, Ashmorton House would be a perfect venue to celebrate a special family birthday or anniversary.
Dating from 1860 when the house was built for a gentleman farmer who owned a 380 acre estate of the surrounding farmland, Ashmorton has had an interesting history, including having once been the home of a tea-plantation owner in India. At the turn of the century, the house apparently had to be sold to pay a huge gambling debt.
Ashmorton House would make a wonderful base from which to explore the historic attractions of Hatfield
House, Woburn Abbey and the Wimpole Estate
. Outings for children include Whipsnade Zoo and Woburn Safari Park, as well as the Duxford Air Museum.
