Details of The Old Dairy and Buttermilk - The Old Dairy
The Old Dairy in Youlgreave, near Bakewell, Derbyshire sleeps 4 people in 2 bedrooms. The Old Dairy near Bakewell is one of two semi-detached, 18th-century stone cottages which are perfectly placed on the hillside parish of Youlgreave, where you can enjoy village life with a local bakery, village store, coffee shop and several village pubs right on your doorstep. Adjoining one another, both properties date back in parts to the early 1700s, and are steeped in history. As the names suggest, these cottages used to comprise the dairy for the village, and nods to the history can be seen throughout these traditional cottages. Open fires, beams and original flagstone floors have been kept and give you a fantastic feel whichever cottage you decide to enjoy your stay in.
The Old Dairy offers accommodation for four with a separate dining room able to seat ten people, ideal if family or friends are in Buttermilk Cottage and the group wishes to join each other over dinner. There is a rustic-style kitchen, which is very well equipped, with a snug leading off at one end, which makes the ideal place for a little peace and quiet or somewhere for children to play. The beautiful cottage garden is to the front of the property and enjoys a perfect patio to enjoy all day long.
Buttermilk Cottage has private courtyard parking and a patio area, and is a little smaller than The Old Dairy but lacks none of the traditional features. Two double bedrooms are located at the top of the stairs, and a family bathroom is found on the ground floor, along with a kitchen and living area to snuggle up in.
There are many excellent walks to enjoy right from the doorstep, and you can also enjoy the nearby Bradford
Dale and Limestone Way. Why not take a visit to the many historic houses dotted around such as Chatsworth House
and Haddon Hall? The well-known market town of Bakewell is only a short drive away so you can easily sample the original famous Bakewell Pudding! Also close by you can explore the market towns of Ashbourne
and Wirksworth with their variety of attractions, shops, coffee shops and restaurants, all within 30-minute drive. Famous Matlock Bath attracts visitors with its cable car ride to the Heights of Abraham, once referred to as Little Switzerland. A ‘must’ on the list is the Monsal Trail, where you can cycle and walk without worrying about traffic. Those looking for a bit more excitement will delight in the nearby theme park of Alton Towers. With all this to hand, what better place to stay and enjoy it than at Youlgreave, in the middle of the stunning Peak District? These wonderful cottages are the ideal places for a fantastic break! The shop, pub and restaurant are all 400 yards from The Old Dairy near Bakewell.
