The famous village of Slad, immortalised by the author Laurie Lee, is just minutes away. For walkers, there are many footpaths, and the Cotswold Way is within a short drive. Bohemian Stroud has an array of independent shops, and the surrounding Golden Valleys are an attractive location from which to explore the western Cotswolds. Regency Cheltenham, 9 miles, has boutique shopping, Cheltenham Racecourse and world-famous jazz and literary festivals. Cirencester, the ’capital of the Cotswolds’, is 11 miles away, and is a charming, Roman market town.
Slightly further afield is Bibury, reputedly acknowledged by William Morris as the ’prettiest village in England.’ Visit Bourton-on-the-Water, Moreton-in-Marsh with its famous Tuesday market, and Chipping Campden. The city of Gloucester
