Penclawdd is famous for the tradition of cockle picking in the Loughor Estuary that has been practised by the local residents for centuries, to this day this tradition is still carried out and on low tide you can often watch the local cockle pickers with their horse drawn carts. Fuchsia Cottage is located in the grounds of the owner’s horticultural business and benefits from extensive woodland walks and magnificent flower displays, and is central to explore the whole of the Gower. For beach lovers, this really is the perfect location with Rhossili, Llangennith and Oxwich Bay all within a 20-minutes’ drive.
This single-storey, detached property has been sympathetically decorated with a homely feel throughout, and offers formal dining in the light and airy, open-plan living room, complete with separate galley-style kitchen. A number of national nature reserves are home to rare birds and plants, and the sublime Loughor Estuary provides a haven for waders and geese among the rice grass, sea lavender and marshmallow of Llanrhidian Marsh.
